How do I enable key repeat in Mavericks?

I would love to be able to hold a key down & have it keep repeating so I can express myself fully without having to repeatedly hit the key to say things like Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.😁

I was searching for an answer to this question & came across this thread:

I'm a little hesitant to go messing with things unless more experienced users say it's okay. So I'm asking. Also, where would I find this Terminal app. they speak of?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Thank you! This worked like a charm. Now I can say Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank you! And I didn't have to hit the h key all those times.😁


I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back on this. I am not real techy & did not know how access the applications/utilities/terminal.app but I called Apple Support & spoke with a wondeful gentleman who helped me access that & we did it & it was a resounding success!
