IBooks will not sync PDF collections with my IPhone. It syncs the collection title but not the content?

The 'sync collections' setting does not copy books or PDFs between devices - all it does is if you have the book on both devices and you move it into a collection on one of them, then it will be put into the same collection on the other device.

You will need to sync each PDF that you want on your phone. If you don't currently have them on your computer then connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and if using a Mac with Mavericks on it do File > Move Books From iTunes in the iBooks app on it, and you can then sync them to your iPhone.

I had the same issue with a PDF on the iPad Air. Sync was on all devices but it's only "iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases" that actually transferred it to the Mac Book Air (OS El Capitan and i Book 4.5, iTune 12.3.1.23 and yes, the same iCloud ID).

It's a cumbersome process and a shame it wont sync like photos!

However now how do I Transfer this PDF to my iPhone? (both the iPad and the iPhone are on IOS9.1)

You've also done File > Move Books From iTunes in your Mac's iBooks app ?

If you have then connect the phone to your Mac's iTunes (that is the computer that the phone's synced to ?) and use its Books tab to select and sync the PDF to it

I then get "iTunes doesn’t have any books to move to iBooks."

Do the PDFs show in iBooks on your Mac, they aren't already in the All Books collection ?

I desperation I sent it it email from phone to myself and downloaded it to the mac. Not elegant but efficient ...
