What do I have to do to uninstall this pernicious filth called Vuze?

The uninstall advice from Vuze simply isn't, one can see it's origins run true to course, Vuze freezes the trash, and every Uninstall Application I've tried to remove it with; CleanerApp, CC Cleaner, etc. has failed. It has brought the normal day to day working to a halt. Vuze replicates itself like a real virus, or like an mad Octopus. So who out there is the resident expert on ridding me of this, "thing?" Beware if you have yet to try, and look closely at what it is doing: I needed Easy Finder to locate it's tenacles; Spotlight failed. It degrades processor speed as well.

Torrent apps of any kind should be avoided. Downloading via torrents has become the top source of adware and even some malware on the Mac recently. Once you remove Vuze, do not install any other torrent app. In some cases, the torrent software itself installs adware on your Mac.

Uninstalling should never be done using generic uninstall or "cleaning" apps, such as CleanerApp and CCleaner. These apps, and others like them, should never be used, for anything. Uninstalling should be done with the uninstaller provided by the developer. If the developer is untrustworthy, you will need to seek out manual removal instructions. (Of course, if the developer is untrustworthy, you need to think long and hard about why you installed that software in the first place.)

If I had to guess, based on what you have said, I'd say you probably have a buttload (to use the technical term 😉) of junk software installed that is causing problems and interfering with normal removal of Vuze.

Your proficiency with assumptive conclusions is impressive, and your ability to provide tangential, if somewhat patriarchal advice, clearly outweighs by “buttloads” your focus on the stated objective: Forward an answer for removing Vuze from Mac OS.

Thirty years and, about 25 Macs later, I still find commercial cleaning products of good pedigree efficient if not necessary in my line of work. In a perfect world, certainly not this one, uninstallation software would be mandated by the OEM; it isn’t, and therein lies the opportunity for the CCleaners’ of the world. As my Austrian friend after finding one such product and using it successfully said to me: “Thanks Gods.”

My system[s] are all business related work platforms; consequently, I have no games, “junk software” although a lot of software is cheap junk, or rather, the people who write, sell, and poorly service it are parsimonious.

No, thomas_r. unfortunately, there is no NORMAL REMOVAL OF VUZE. Unless perhaps, you are affiliated with that company, and know something we don't?

Vuze is dangerous, it is insidious, it takes your home files, all your applications, from all of your disks, and seeds it into the swarm. Did you ever wonder how people’s personal pictures and movies find themselves on the web? I know about this now, but not until after I fell for the “professional looking advertising” of Vuze.

I have no idea how to properly uninstall Vuze if the methods provided by the developers don't work.

I merely posted to provide two pieces of information:

1) a reason why your attempted solution, involving apps like CleanerApp and CCleaner, didn't work - because they don't work and shouldn't be used

2) the reasons why junk like Vuze should never be used in the first place

Clearly, this information is not meant to answer the question directly, but is meant to help you avoid making similar mistakes in the future. If you care to listen and heed that advice, anyway. I'm not going to argue with you about it... you'll listen or you won't, and it's not my concern at this point.

Okay so I have been trying to uninstall Vuze for about an hour now, and I finally figured out how to do it with one of my friends. It uninstalled on both of our computers. Here are the steps for a Mac:

1. Click the search button in the top right hand corner of your desktop

2. search "/applications"

3. click the applications folder

4. you should see a list of all the applications on your mac. scroll until you get to Vuze, and then drag it to the trash.

5. then empty your trash. the Vuze app should completely delete from your computer

if you want to delete all the files that came with vuze, you can go to your finder and delete any installer or file having any relation with the app and your good!
