2008 macbook unable to update to mavericks software - why?
It won't allow me to update my mac os x 10.7.5 software to mavericks on my 2008 macbook despite having all the correct requirements - why? help!

Please verify your model by clicking the Apple logo and selecting "About this Mac" then "More info". The identifier needs to be 5,1 or higher.

finally found it, its only 1,1! what does that mean? can i change that?
When you click About this Mac, then click "More Info" it will show the model identifier. For the MacBook Air it needs to be:

Sorry, no you can't change that. Lion (10.7.5) is the highest possible for that model.
