Re Format an external Drive Toshiba Stor.e

Hi

I have ysed disc utillity to reformat but it fails with the message " cannot un-mount the drive" I have used the reformat and the partition routes bur get the same message. Any ideas please as I need this for Time Machine use.

MacBook Air, iOS 6.0.2

iOS does not run on MacBook Airs.

Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and tell us your Mac OS X version.

Make sure Time Machine is turned off in Apple menu -> System preferences before you attempt to format the drive for Time Machine use.
