Update fails because the disk is full.

Seriously... how much space does this thing need? I have a 16G Iphone 5 currently IOS 7.0.6. Everything was great until about two updates ago. Ever since then I can't back up (unless I want to buy more cloud space). I don't even have any music on this phone. Photos/videos that I clean out every now and then, apps and that's it. It says it has 1.18 GB free... how much **** space do you need?

I shouldn't have to delete every app I own and clean out every photo to run an update.

Apple has the lowest free cloud space and now your systems are so freaking enormous that's about all we can have on the phone.

Do I really have to delete everything?

This is the exact message I get:

The Iphone "...." could not be updated. The disk you are attempting to use is full. Removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space.

What recycle bin on my phone???

Yes, that was my first thought butl I was looking at my hard drive with about 200 gb of free space so I knew that couldn't be the problem. BUT then after getting really frustrated I remembered that I have a wonderful SCSI drive which unfortunately everything tries to load to without asking. It drives me crazy!! There has to be a way to fix that so things try to load to my other drive automatically instead. Sure enough that only had about 100 MB of space left.
