Invisible formatting that will not disappear

I am still using the Pages prior to the most recent update, every now and then it holds onto old formatting which I have deleted. There are no invisible characters I can delete but I cannot gte the text to recognise the loss of the old formatting. I have tried deleting the page (the problem was a section with two columns) but no luck. Any ideas out there?

Dear Peter

I did upgrade to Pages 5.2 but it was a nightmare for me, I am in the middle of producing a very complex manual with all kinds of design features that the new Pages could not handle. I had to remove it from my machine before I opened too many documents withi it. I am really sorry about that, it looked so good and yet was so limited in its functionality.

So bakc on good old 4.3 - I have deleted several pages one of which was a separate section divided into two columns.

Most of the text now flows across the page fine until four lines from the end end where the text will not move out of the left hand column. I am asking it to center and it is centering, but as if in the centre of a column. Nothing I have done will encourage it to center in the centre of an A4 portrait page, deleting the page has not worked.

Thanks for your consideration

Zanne
