Hi. I have a brand new IPad Air cellular + wifi with 128 gb. I also have an unlimited 3G connectivity. But the stupid 100 mb limit has made my life very difficult. Please suggest some ways to download files larger than 100mb without wifi. I am located in India and I have confirmed from my telecom service provider that there is no maximum limit on downloads.

Why? Nothing anyone says here can change the fact that the limit exists. You don't believe that it has anything to do with the carriers. Fine. Submit your feedback directly to Apple (who isn't reading here for suggestions):

You should tell Apple how you feel:
We don't get offended for no reason. This is a technical support forum, and we do get offended when someone come in with a chip on their shoulder in their first post. Which is a reason.
And then posts incorrect information. Apple does not require you to purchase ringtones. They offer it as a convenience for those who don't want to go to the trouble of making their own. But they also provide instructions on how to make your own: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25022. And you can find other ways to make them with a Google search. Some people's time is worth more than a dollar or two for a purchased ringtone.
Now you can't use anymore updating thru ITunes 12.7 and then to your IPhone, the apps management is gone 😟

C'mon Apple just let us download unlimited data size via 4G, this joke is getting ridiculous
Absolutely non sensical feature. It should be upto users.
Also for a phone worth a bomb, so small call log, I have iPhone 7 and for day to day usage still use that Galaxy S6. Even a month old call detail show up.
It fascinates me that people who don't understand the reason for something call it "stupid" or "nonsensical." The reason, in this case, has already been posted in this thread (right above your post, among other places), so apparently no one reads what they post to either.
I, too, have always been fascinated by the people who keep saying "That doesn't make sense...." when they don't like an answer. And keep saying it as though, eventually, you'll give the a different answer so they'll stop.
Already done that and gave them the link of this and other threads related to same topic so that they know how their customers are feeling.
I don't have anything against Apple. In fact, I really like this company because of the level of service it provides, the ecosystem it has built for it's devices, etc.
But something like this really irritates me. Settings like this should not be thrown to people. It should be a configurable option, instead.
I have 20 Mbps broadband connection but my 4G connection is very fast (around 50Mbps) and I have enough data cap to download a 10GB file. (I have 30GB data cap) So, in this case my carrier is not restricting me, I can stream a 3-4GB HD movie from Hotstar but I can't download a 1.3 GB Garageband update.
Tap the app to download. It will prompt the 100 Mb limit. Tap Ok. Come to home sreen by clicking the home button. You will see the icon Waiting.... Tap it once. Shut your iPhone. Start again. Check your waiting icon. It will be downloading.

Contacts- option to display only the names with phone numbers. When I sync contacts from gmail I have 20000 names and email ids. Android has this feature and it really helps.
Music - common App to detect music files from my phone and I can play all my music downloaded from different apps in one place.
Radio - I really enjoy music on the radio, again this feature is not available.
Photos - from different apps like WhatsApp. Why does it have to clutter all the photos in one place. WhatsApp photos should be stored in folder called WhatsApp pics as it is in android. A lot of manual effort goes into segregation.
App download- the users should have the liberty to choose wifi or mobile data. The option should be with the user to download more than 100mb over mobile data, we don't like being dictated.

Because I made a mistake and bought iPhone 7. I tried returning it to the store but they won't take it back. So now i am trying to sell it via ebay.
But what a sssssss question "why are You here". Because i have a problem and I don't know how to go around it. If you are so smart then help me.
You show up here with a first post of "I have no such limitations on my Android device and never had any problems" and you expect us to, someone, intuit from that that you bought an iPhone and aren't happy with it? Some of us are pretty good but none of us read minds.
If, as you should have, you read this thread before posting in it, you should already know that this limit is, in fact, a limit. It's not something you can get around. I understand you're not happy with that but no one here can do anything to change that.
iPhones generally old their value quite well and yo should be able to sell it for close to what you paid for it.

I just didn't know that people are so touchy or attached to a company that they would get offended, for no real reason.
For me it's just another hardware for which i payed a lot of money for, so expected it to do a lot of simple things with no problem.
So of course i got upset when i saw how many limitations this platform has. And my response hier was maybe not clear.
So let's just be calm about it. We (consumers/customers) should stay together about what we want in our products and confront the companies whose interests is only to take our money now... i mean they even want you to pay for a Ringtone... :-). While clearly you could just choose any MP3(or any other format) thats on your device already. Here already you start to see the greediness of a company.
So we should not fight each other about some overpriced piece of plastic.

That would indicate a failure on your part to do proper research before purchasing an expensive phone. For that, I have little sympathy.

So far, you've discussed nothing that I find to be a problem with my experience with my iPhone. One of the reasons I prefer iOS devices to their Android counterparts is precisely because of the tight controls Apple places on the OS. It means I have a far more secure device.
I don't keep any mp3s on my phone so it would be rather inconvenient for me to have to load some in order to turn them into ringtones. I have a large selection of ringtones on my phone that I have made in the past. But, it's not something I enjoy doing and my time is more valuable that that. Your calculus might be different. Again, this is not a new with iPhones.
