There is no difference at all. They are the same phone. If you go to an Apple Store and buy a Verizon iPhone 5s, you will get exactly the same phone as if you'd walked into a Verizon store to buy it.

Meg,

I have an unlocked GSM iPhone 5s from Apple and have used both T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs. My question above, directed to you, was trying to understand whether or not the Verizon 5s CDMA-version is more flexible in the U.S.. From your answer, it sounds as though you really aren't sure.

Is there anyone who can address my question above (April 12, 12:07 p.m. timestamp)? It sounds to me as though there is a lot of confusion about Verizon's 5s, in terms of how the GSM side works in the U.S. and whether it will work with AT&T and T-Mobile SIMs (as well as with other, smaller carriers). Also, whether the GSM side will work without any action or permission from Verizon, in the U.S..

Again, I'm not asking to be argumentative, I'm just trying to clarify for myself and others.

Thanks,

Dan

A Verizon iPhone 5 or later can be used on U.S. GSM carriers. The iPhone 5 or 5C (they're basically the same phone) will not get LTE on carriers other than Verizon. The iPhone 5S will.

yes, old thread, but i'm researching info: giving my now unused verizon 5c to a friend who has an att iphone4s currently active on att network. trying to confirm that she will be able to get LTE connection on the (verizon) 5c when we switch it over from "unused" to att (by cutting down the att 4s micro sim or obtaining new sim from att directly). much confusion info re: band capability of 5 vs 5c vs 5s. i'm suspecting lots of misinformation as people carelessly interchange these model numbers during discussions. as near as i can tell, band capability is the same for 5c and 5s, but original 5 had some true limitations with att/gsm and verizon/cdma interchangeability. appreciate any input. -kyle
