Hi Buyoy, just want to ask how did you figure it out to redeem the itunecard here in saudi? Because im planning to buy an itune card in Jarir this week but im undecided because of the review that some itune card dont work here in saudim i hope you coukd help me. Best regards! Thanks!
..thanks..i already figure it out..i was able to use the gift card..
Sorry, but you cannot use another country's iTunes Store. You can only use the Saudi iTunes Store unless you are physically in the US and have a valid mailing addess there. Nor can you use a US iTunes card in the Saudi iTunes Store. Give or sell the card to someone in the US.
Regards.
In our global society, I think Itunes/Apple needs to come up with a solution to this. My twist on this is I bought a used iPod from Ebay and it works fine. However, I bought an iTunes card down the street from where I live in Florida, and then tried to credit the iPod with the $50. It would not work. It gave me the error message that I must "redeem in a US storefront." I even took the card to the local Apple “storefront”, but apparently they a different franchise or entity then the folks who issue the iTunes gift cards and can’t help. So the error message “storefront” actually means online store. Anyways, it just leaves you feeling frustrated and with no where to turn.
Society may be global, but copyright laws and the content owners are not. They're different in just about every country, and said owners don't want sales of their property going to other countries. Hence Apple (as is every legal download store I know of) is required to verify that you are resident in the country in which you want to purchase, and one way (and probably the only practical way) is by requiring that your payment method be issued in that country.
If you live in the US, have your iTunes Store account there, and you purchased a US iTunes card, then your iPod is probably just pointing to the wrong iTunes Store. Go here:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > tap your Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
If you find that it is set to the correct region, log out of your iTunes Store account, restart your iPod, and sign into your account again. Then try redeeming the card.
And yes, the Apple Stores, the retail stores that sell computers and other hardware, and the iTunes Store are completely different.
Regards.
