I was sending mail late last night 10.4.14. Went to sleep. Woke up 11.4.14 in the morrning and realised I could no longer send mail on any of my three devices. Realising that, one after the other. I have looked and nothing has changed. I am in France which is were am all the time at the momment. Not sure its a local issue however?

I have been getting this all day in advice box:

Connections to the server “p04-smtp.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

I have had a look up at the manage ID area, yet I dont want to be to active as nothing I can see is out of order!

Any ideas of advice or having the same problem. Be good to hear from You.

I can get all the incoming mail!!

Thanks

I live in France as well and have been having the same problem since yesterday morning. I was on the phone for one hour with Apple Support France where we shared the screen and she as well was bluffed concerning the situation since all was green light and funtioning. Was able to receive my test mails at one moment but, after that and still now the next morning unable to send mails out from all my Apple devices.

The person who replied with a solution to the problem could you please explain in a simplier way for us not so IT literate people a way to solve the problem.

This is very frustrating but, am relieved it is not me and there are others having the same problem. I hope the situation is repaired ASAP. Very hard to work in these conditions for all of us.

Try changing your outgoing mail server (smtp) in preferences -> accounts -> account information -> edit smtp server list and add the following

p01-smtp.mail.me.com

In the advanced tab select 'use custom port' and enter 587, select password for authentication and then add your user name xxxx.xxxxx and your password. After pressing OK make sure to check the 'use only this server' then click General in order to be prompted to save these new settings.

This works for me although it takes a few seconds longer than usual for email to leave my outbox.

Yes this is crazy....and I've been complaining to Apple Support over the last 6 months with issues relating to @me.com & @icloud.com email NOT working. I work in I.T. and been asking colleagues based in America's and EMAE regions and they all say the same thing about "short-cuts" Apple been making here particularly with people who had @me.com address but now only want ot keep this email and remove the @iCloud.com email address!

I recently bought iPhone 5S 2 weeks ago and email was sending/receiving on the mobile device since then!!!!!!!! Now since yesterday MacBook email says this message

"Connections to the server “p04-smtp.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out." So with my Apple Support Case ref: 595003514 there is 5mths worth of detailed data given to Apple Support about the same issues........so why has NOTHING been done about this and now we have as we know in the IT world......"Major Show-Stopper" in terms of providing a service which is NOT fit for purpose!!
