Mac Pro Late 2013 and Samsung 4k monitor problem

I have the new Samsung 28" 4k screen (U28D590D) and it has tearing along the right edge when used with displayport. Any way to fix that? I tried different cables (all DisplayPort 1.2 complient) to be sure and have narrowed the issue to the Mac Pro. The HDMI works fine tho only @30hz so is a bit laggy in normal interaction. There is no way to turn on Multi-stream as indicated and I hope it isnt that this screen will never work.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Dual Fire Pro D700

I don't know abut others but my experience has been a good one. As soon as I installed Beta 2 the problem went away. and now that we are at Beta 4, it is still working great.

I worked on making Mavericks work by editing the display files and got 54hz without tearing. but I found a little choppy when I moved windows around.

I hope that others have the same positive experience with Yosemite.

Despite all the rightfully negative comments arousing from this thread I am off to purchase 2 of the Samsung UD590's.

I am a member of the highly unfortunate group who opted for the mid-range D500 cards not knowing that it would prevent me from actually using what is modern consumer-level 4k display technology.

In regards to the Yosemite update fix: Being in audio for the past 13 years I've learned not to update OS's until the time is right. Otherwise, a plethora of problems arise with my AU plugins in Logic & Ableton... I still may give it a try if there is a possibility that I can revert back to Mavericks.

All that aside, does anyone know the code-fix to drive dual Samsung UD590's to 50-54hz in Mavericks? Will SwitchResX and the code previously posted work for this dual monitor setup?

My cables won't arrive until Monday or Tuesday since they are sold out everywhere so I have some time to mess around with these in the meantime. Hoping I can drop the resolution (temporarily) so I can use 2x HDMI cables while I wait.

That's good to hear. I believe the Asus PB287Q uses the same panel as that Samsung.

I have a LG 34UM95 currently, however I'm having an unsolvable and unacceptable Thunderbolt issue with it. And was thinking of possibly selling it and getting one or two of the Asus. True 4K will probably work better for my needs anyway.

It just seems like finding a completely compatible monitor for the Mac Pro is impossible unless you use one off Apple's list.

Why not just get the Samsung? Even when I had that distortion on the right-hand side under 10.9.5, I still thought the Samsung was stellar. But now that it is gone completely, I'm enjoying every single inch of it... literally! My only complaint is the stand. It's pretty flimsy and there's no VESA mounting in the rear, so you're forced to stay with the flimsy stand. Otherwise the display is truly stellar!

Cheers!

Hello,

I think it would be nice to have an overview which monitor is fully working at 3840x2160 60 Hz without problems

- No problems means: no flickering, artifacts, glitching or whatever you want to call it.

For Mac Pro running Yosemite os x 10.10

Connected on the thunderbolt - displayport

I would like to know if they work without tinkering around with special configuration programs or without changing any configuration files.
