Mac Pro Late 2013 and Samsung 4k monitor problem

I have the new Samsung 28" 4k screen (U28D590D) and it has tearing along the right edge when used with displayport. Any way to fix that? I tried different cables (all DisplayPort 1.2 complient) to be sure and have narrowed the issue to the Mac Pro. The HDMI works fine tho only @30hz so is a bit laggy in normal interaction. There is no way to turn on Multi-stream as indicated and I hope it isnt that this screen will never work.

Hello, i am using an iMac Late 2013 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB, 3,4 GHz Intel Core i5 using display port

i had the u28 working on Mavericks with hidpi mode but only at 30Hz which was ok for me.

Now after updating to Yosemite i am not getting this mode any more, all i have left is 2560 *1440 which gives my kind of blurred text and one 1280 *720 (HiDPI) which is ridiculous because everything is way too large.

Anybody got a resolution to this , i would very much appreciate it.

I just tried my late 2013 iMac with the GTX 775M graphics. I got a mirror of my 2560*1440 but nothing greater with my Samsung monitor plugged into the thunderbolt port and into the display port 1.2 on the monitor. There doesn't appear to be any other options in the system preferences.

Maybe SwitchRes can help?

After install Yosemite my Asus PB287Q suddenly work like a charm, All the problems are gone, But after three days, The screen is turn to black (Monitor still working by using HDMI input) and show "No Signal" from Displayport,

Now, no matter what I try, It's just dead and even worse, I was call Apple technician regarding this issue, but no one can answer, is anybody know why?

Just hooked up my Asus PB287Q, and can report that it is working with my Late 2013 6-Core Mac Pro with D500s, and does not have the tearing issue while running at the full 3840x2160@60Hz. However, I am still having the boot issue as I was with my LG 34UM95. It appears to be an issue with my Mac, and possibly not the LG. I will have to contact Apple and see what they can do as this pretty much confirms a hardware issue with my Mac Pro.

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone who has these monitors can open up their System Information, go under Graphics/Displays, and tell me if their display is detected as a Television? As I'm wondering if this is causing the issue I am having with boot.

Or, if you could tell me if you can see the Apple boot splash during boot, and/or the FileVault password entry screen?

Thanks

Interesting you should mention that. I just noticed last night that the display info shows "Television: Yes" in the System Information: Graphics/Displays. I used the technique here to Force RGB Mode and the script from here to create an EDID override file so it wouldn't report as a television. It didn't have any visible differences to the display with the new EDID, so I put back the original EDID file. Also, I'd also noticed with this monitor that it doesn't display until it gets to the login screen and, for example, if I hold down the option key to boot off another volume, it stays dark. This behavior continues with the custom EDID, so I don't think it's related to the television identification.

Some times the screen will not light up even when the blinking blue "sleep" light is on. I have to reach behind it and turn it on by pressing the joystick control. Then it takes me to the login screen. This happens when I reboot.

I usually leave the Mac Pro on and let the monitor go to sleep, A mouse click generally wakes it up.

I haven't seen the white boot up screen with apple logo since I got my Samsung monitor.

When I first got my Mac Pro, I was using a Acer monitor (with 1/4 the resolution) using the HDMI port and the monitor had no trouble displaying the boot up screens.
