For the past month i have been haveing major issues with accessing anything that i have purchesed in Itunes and accessing it through my apple TV. I have read through forums and seen and done the following trouble shooting tips

1. reboot network

2. reset apple tv

3. restore apple tv

4. sign out and sign back in

5. network testing - and i am running at necessary speeds and it the signal stenghts bar is full.

It has become increasingly frustrating because the 1 of the following problems is what i experince.

1. the content i have selected gets stuck on the loading screen

2. the movie and/or TV show loads and then lags while trying to play and then eventually says that there is an error loading the content

3. immidently shows an error mesage about loading the content.

I am unsure what else to do to resolve this consistant problem. I have also made sure that the software on the apple TV is up to date. I have 2 devices in my house and i am having the same problems on both devices. These playback issues do not show up on any of my other apple devices either. In addition i have ultraviolet which has no connect issues and/or playback issues. On ultraviolet i am playing HD level movies without any issues. I would greatly appricate any feedback as to how i can access my content on my apple TV without haveing to reset, reboot, and restore eveything each time i want to use it.

I assume you used speedtest to verify connection, and it's at least 6mbps

The network test on the device is not an accurate representation. If you have not done so go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a Report of the network.

If you are on wifi try Ethernet

Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)

so i stand corrected. the apple TV connected via ethernet is still haveing the same connection issues when i try and stream any type of show. in addition i tried to do the network test and it gives me an error each time. i tried doing a reset on the airport extreme and that doesn't seem to have fixed anytihng either. at this point i am assuming that the airport extreme is beginning to fail. is it possible for it to work fine with computers and other devices just not with the apple TV because it is trying to stream heavy media?

thank you for all the feedback that you have provided. i have one other piece of information. i used the speedtest.net on my laptop. i was sitting in a room away from the room where the modem and router are placed. i ran the test several times and this is what it came back as.

download speed - 42.41 mbps

upload speed - 7.77

i was also able to idetnfiy which network was the 2.4 and which one is the 5GHz. it seems odd to me that the 2.4 one is opperating at a better signal than the 5.

i am not sure if this is further knowledge that says its the modem or not. again my only problem with connection is with apple tv and i have 2 of them and the problem is identical on both. so all i feel i am left with is it is the router or it is the apple TV device. thoughts?

Your speed is fine, as we established before the problem lies with the local network and interference not the internet nor ATV.

Different frequency equals different tolerance for interference. 2.4ghz is often best as it has better range and can penetrate solid objects etc.

What is the 2.4 frequency operating at?

Keep trying channels, if you are unable to gain suitable performance then it may be time to switch routers.
