Is my battery healthy?

Hi I have been using my macbook pro 13" retina since of may 2013, now its april 2014 and my battery life is looking like this.

Now the thing is I only charge when the battery is less than 10% but I have been using my mac as my main workstation. I'm a developer and I use many different technologies so I'm using the mac more than 8-10 hours a day.

I have seen screenshots from different users who has been using their macbook pro for at least a year and they have a lower cycle count than I. My macbook max charge is 95%, I was just wondering whether this is healthy or not.

Thanks.

You should charge long before 10% is reached (if possible), draining LiOn batteries regularly is bad for them. Leave the Mac plugged in most of the time, periodically (twice a month or so) discharge it to 40 or 50% and then pug it back in.

You have probably shortened the life of your battery a little already, that can't be changed so .... don't do it again 🙂

Hi and thanks for the response, could I ask you to elaborate these steps for me please?

1. Leave the Mac plugged in most of the time

-by this do you mean for example... my mac is charged at 100% so do I leave it charged for the whole day?

2. periodically (twice a month or so) discharge it to 40 or 50% and then pug it back in.

- So instead of waiting for it get to 10% I should discharge it to 40-50% and then charge it back?

So what after that? I leave the charger plugged in as usual? Wouldn't that shorten my battery life even further?

Thanks.

Yup, the charger will stop supplying power when your Mac reaches 100% (or so), it will resume supplying power at approximately 95% charge.

Yes, a few times a month is sufficient

No (see the answer to point 1)

You are remembering the behavior of NiCad batteries (full discharge etc) and they have not been used in Macs for a very long time.
