I'm experiencing this problem as well with a 1st gen Atv. It is accessing the Internet, but won't access movies, music or tv.

My current configuration for ATV1: Using WIFI via Apple Express (gen 1) set for 5 GHz only.

I have it set up in my kitchen, the only place I do not have an either 5e drop.

I had a Crystal HD card in the WIFI slot but had to return the WIFI card when I moved the ATV1 to the kitchen.

Why not just plug in a USB WiFi card instead and keep the CrystalHD card?

When I moved the ATV1 from the Panasonic 48" Plasma (family room) to the LG 32" LED (kitchen) I saw no need for the crystal HD. The kitchen viewing is mostly short shows during food prep. We tend to turn off the video while we eat unless a game happens to be on when we are eating. Good time to talk. All major movies and sports are watched on the 48".

Same problem when I reset the Apple TV to try and insert an RGB-HDMI converter, trying to prepare my enviroment for the upgrade to the new hdmi only AppleTV.

Airplay works, but the Apple TV does not show on the iTunes device panel on wifi. While connected by Eithernet it does actually show, but as soon as the wire is unplugged it goes away.

I Bough the new apple tv in June 2014. I worked perfectly.

Now it is showing unable to connect to itunes logo when i switch on the apple tv on my sony tv.

Also i tried restarting several times and also with or without internet but it is showing the same option that the apple tv cannot be able to connect to itunes ( a apple tv image, cable not connected to itunes images is only shown )

Same issues here...all of my 1st gen apple tv's are doing exactly same thing described in above posts...no connection to itunes store to purchase movies, menu and remote control jumpy, movies and music flickering/stopping/going. If you disconnect the gen 1 apple tv from the internet cable it works 100% fine except HD movies purchased from Apple will not play saying "Your AppleTV is not connected to the internet". Apple, please stop breaking this amazing product so many of us still use and love. It is so much better than the gen 2's and 3's. Help Help Help

I have windows 7 and have had the problem of not being able to see my apple tvs and not being able to stream any of my own content through itunes for months now. I finally found the solution after endless searching. Mitch is the man!!!

If the Bonjour service isn’t your problem, you may have a problem with iTunes trying to route sharing traffic using IP6 instead of IP4. Try these steps in Windows:

  1. Select Start, then type “Networking and Sharing” to search for the “Network and Sharing Center“.
  2. Choose your active network listed for “Connections“. It’s usually named “Wireless Network Connection 1″, “Wi-Fi 1″ or something similar.
  3. Click the “Properties”button.
  4. If Internet “Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” is checked, uncheck it, then click “OK“.
  5. Click “Close“.

Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.

I sure hope this helps some of you on this forum!

Blessings
