apple tv does not access iTunes - 4/17/2014

Same problem here in Fulda/Germany: Not possible to rent movies or buying music. Also the menu is very slow.

Same in Germany, Hamburg. 1st gen ATV. Additionally my 2nd gen ATV is updating for hours and hours. It's really annoying.

I am experiencing this problem as well with a 1st Gen silver Atv. It is accessing the Internet and you tube, but won't access movies, music or tv. I have reset, signed in and out of iTunes and now just done a factory reset, all to no avail.

Have Apple stopped supporting the 1st Gen? Has worked fine up until now!

Not sure if it will help or not, but everyone who comes in here should click on the "I have this question too" link beside the giant REPLY on the first post that started this thread. Maybe more people saying they have the same question will help.

Yesterday same happened to me in the Canary Islands, Spain. No more Itunes content on my ATV 1 gen and this after 6 years. I am very dissapointed about this, I was really in the mood to rent a movie this weekend. I reckon this could be a joke of some programmer or something but I sincerly think this is not funny. In case Apple let us down on this issue I am surely not going to buy any update ATV but I will definitely loose my faith in Apple´s products which is very sad really...

Identical issue - 1st Generation ATV. Melbourne, Australua.

Not jailbreaked. Updated regularly. Stopped accessing iTunes April 18th but connects to YouTube, diagnostics tell me it's all working fine.

SAME HERE IN BOSTON!!! ... Can't understand why I love Apple products so much if I always end up having problems with each one of them!!! So what's next??? ... Is it gonna be addressed at all!!!

Exact same problem and timing in Canberra, Australia.

Same problem in Spain: my Apple TV worked more than fine a few days ago.

All of a sudden, it is now running very slowly and cannot access iTunes Store while it can access the internet (ie YouTube).

Really annoying!!! It is like flashing back 5 years ago.

I wish Netflix was available in Europe.

Thank you for the information regarding the ATV 2nd Gen. We have heard a bit more about the ATV2 but not much on ATV 3rd gen. Please state if you are having an issue with the ATV 3 and if you are still under warranty what phone support is saying about it.

Please ley us know if you do reach Apple support and what they say. One other thread here mentions Apple Customer Support being intentionally vague and evasive pretty much expressing they are unaware of a world wide issue and stating it is the user hardware failing...at the same time the ATV failed for users in Germany, Japan, New Yourk City, Boston, Canada, Australia, Korea, Spain, Philadelphia, India, one of the moons of Mars (Phobos I think).

The twitter idea is a pretty good one. Not sure how to go about it. Please explain. Those of you that have completed a factory restore on your ATV1: Does it restore to Software 1.0 or 2.0 and what is your experience upgrading to 3.0.2? Does it update normally or is it taking an hour or longer? If it restores normally then it appears it is able to connect to the Apple server and is intentionally blocked form the Apple Store.
