iBooks for iOS 6

I have an iPod touch with iOS6.1, and would like to add the iBooks app. However iTunes says I must have iOS7. How can I get the older version of iBooks that will run in iOS6 ?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.1

I got it!

The trick was to delete the current version (3.2) once it had synch'd to the iPod. Then I go back to the App Store into the Purchased tab, and try to download it again. At that point I get the message saying that the current version is not compatible with my device, and it asks if I want to download the latest compatible version.

I click "Get compatible version" and all is well.

Thanks.

That saved me a 2-hour trip to the Apple store.

You should be able to get it from the App Store. Try downloading the current version of the app on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history, then on your iPod go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and you should be able to download an older compatible version of it

It was worth a try, but it did not work. The iBooks app synch'd to the iPod, but won't install. I went to the Purchased tab on the App Store on the iPod, and clicked on Version History. It showed all the earlier versions, but there was no link to download/install the older versions. 😕

It should work, other people have been able to do it (I don't have an device with an old version of iOS on it so I can't check how it works) - are you able to select an earlier version of the app ? Hopefully somebody who's done it will post what they did
