Importing from Filemaker Pro to Pages

I have a large Filemaker Pro database of 40,000 entries. I am trying to import the data into Pages. I have exported as tab-separated and it shows as a text edit file, but I cannot get it into Pages

You are not addressing Apple here, as the Apple leadership and product teams do not participate in the support communities. We are just users like yourself, and volunteer our time while helping others.

It has now exceeded three years and Apple has not retrofitted Mail/Data merge into Pages v5/v6. If it was important to Apple, this functionality would have been added by now. Pages '09 had no provision for directly importing Filemaker database data, as it was geared to content received from Numbers '09 — thus you are seeking functionality that simply never existed in Pages.

The third-partyPages 5.5 Mail and Data Merge application is not an Apple product, and is solely supported by its author. Address any issues regarding this product to the linked post.

Merging Filemaker Pro 13 data into Pages 6.0.5, I hope Apple is working on this for future releases. They use to work well together, then we had to use Pages Data Merge script and they now seem to have broken that also. I read the note about making Pages work on iPhones and Computers... but they are smart people, and should be able to figure this one out. If nothing else, make the Word Processing in Filemaker a little better, giving option to have text not be broken when it wraps such in a Text field.

Under everything on the Mac, eg the Apple menu or Pages menu is "About…"

You need to import it into Numbers '09 and use Pages '09 to merge from that.

Also with Pages '09 you could create an AppleScipt to combine the data.

Pages 5 is basically a lost cause.

Exactly what do you want do with your tab delimited text file? Pages will accept it as text, what else do you want done with it?
