How to down a print queue using CUPS?

In the olden days of UNIX, before CUPS (using lpd), I knew how to down (stop) a print queue. I'd like to script the process now so that I can start and stop queues without using the GUI.

Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thank you.

Doug, thank you. Although the manual did not address control at the queue level (it is job-focused), it did make mention of the lpadmin command, which lead me to its man page. There I found reference to the enable command.

The man page for enable also included description for disable. And that's exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you
