how to unlock iphone 4s

I would call them back and ask for a supervisor or manager. ONLY a carrier can unlock a carrier locked phone. If you got the phone from Sprint on contract it was locked to them. Once the contract has expired they should unlock it for you.

I thought the 4S was network agnostic, but I may be wrong on that.

A Sprint iPhone can not be unlocked for use on any other US carrier. If that's what you're trying to do, don't bother. It can not be used with any US carrier other than Sprint.

Why can't you use Sprint?

If you owe them money, you're probably going to have a problem using ANY major carrier in the US. You're going to have to buy an unlocked phone and resort to pre-paid service until you settle the debt.

Your owing them money explains why they won't help you.

Sorry. I read your post and apparently was confused by your statement.

As far as service goes, you may be stuck going with a different carrier and getting a new phone.
