My Mazda CX-5 Bose Stereo keeps forgetting the blue tooth settings

I am having some issue with my 2014 Mazda CX-5 Bose stereo/Bluetooth and wondered if anyone has had/resolved similar issues?

Issue 1 - the Bluetooth settings are set up to use my iPhone 5S as the phone and my iPod 5th generation as the music player.

However, every time I switch the engine on the settings are forgotten and the stereo defaults both the music player and phone to the iPhone.

As there is no music on my iPhone this means I am continually changing the music player back to the iPod. (This was never an issue with an android phone)

Issue 2 - Every time the iPhone connects the contacts are downloaded, even though they are the same on each occasion. Does the CX-5 stereo not remember contacts like a Ford does?

Issue 3 - I am not able to shuffle songs via the car stereo, if I click shuffle on the iPod this unclick's immediately when playing via the car stereo

N.B. To resolve the Bluetooth connectivity issues I have also tried connecting the iPod via the USB but, by the time I have traveled the 15 minutes to work, it still hasn't connected.

Can anyone offer me any advice on how to resolve any of these issues please?

Latest Update:

The replacement bluetooth module I had fitted in my CX-5 recently may allow me to connect in USB mode quickly, but, unfortunately, it has caused new issues.

These include repeat switching on by itself on each and every connection, which means that shuffle turns off! The shuffle and repeat buttons do not work on the touch screen so the only option is to switch repeat off on the ipod touch (which turns shuffle back on) each time you get in the car.

Another new issue means that songs stop mid way through, and, either start up again after approx 30 seconds or jump to the next one.. In a few cases nothing happens and a reboot of the ipod (4th and 5th gen) is the only answer.

I contacted Mazda UK and they have confirmed that the technicians are aware of these issues and are working on another module to resolve this...

Marvelous!!!!!

Mazda CX-5 iPhone Bluetooth

My dealer simply denies that there is any update (I have the Sony sound system; not sure that matters). Our issues now include:

- shuffle > shuffle all has to be reset every time we start the car

• the Mazda rarely hears me say "shuffle"; I have to re-push the "speak" button on the steering wheel

• I have to wait for the Mazda to say each sub-option and beep before saying "shuffle all"

- Apple Maps often either gives directions intermittently, or not-at-all through the Mazda system

- Apple Maps will not give directions through the Mazda system unless Music is on (we put it in pause)

- Apple Maps will sometimes not give directions through the iPhone when connected by bluetooth to the Mazda, regardless of setting

- Downloading phone contacts cannot be canceled

• Because I have several thousand contacts, connecting takes 3-5 minutes every time I start the car.

Overall, my experience with Mazda and iPhone has been terribly frustrating; disappointing at best.

Hi,

I just bought a 2015 CX-5 Grand Touring with the Bose/Nav. I some of the same problems as Sushalucy with my iPhone 5s.

1. Cannot seem to get it into Shuffle when in Bluetooth mode, I click it on my iphone and it comes right out. On the touch screen the shuffle is "grayed out".

2. Seems to take FOREVER to respond to the "ipod" after connecting it via USB. I basically left the Radio in Bluetooth and after driving 10~15 I noticed I could get into "iPod" USB mode. What the heck is it doing that syncing it via Bluetooth did not already do?

3. I cannot select a song from the iPhone. When I do it pops out of the song and goes into the general song list (every song on the iphone) and plays a random song. The Mazda only likes you to select the songs from the touch screen.

Its a right pain in the butt and I only had the car for less than 10 hours! You think that the 2015 would already have this new module ... would be great to have some part numbers on what was put in your Mazda... if at all possible.

Oh, I have a 2011 Mustang and I have none of these problems MS Sync, no have I had these problems with Rental cars (nissan, buick, dodge, etc - yes I travel a lot and rent lots of cars).

Hi

i don't have a part number as this was warranty work but it is a replacement Bluetooth module.

I live in the UK but would imagine its available globally?

The module fixed the USB issue but I still have a few issues (which I added in my last update). It is definitely better though.

I did ask Mazda UK for a replacement head unit but they said I would still have the same issues as they are the same as the 2014 !?

they know about the issues but are taking their time to fix them...

Like you I have had other cars, both Mazda and ford, with Bluetooth sync etc and had no issues whatsoever.

I hope you are able to get the first module OK. This will go some way to ease the pain this Bose system brings.

The salesman is suppose to call me for a "followup" today to see how things are going and I'll push this "module update". I had already talked about these problems while in the car with him, since I was testing all I could with my iPhone during our drive.

Also, when you say you talked to Mazda Directly did do you have a contact number? Also, anyway to know if what you had put in your 2014 applies to the 2015?

Mazda (USA Austin Texas) sees that is a "Warranty Number" but they cannot find anything in the system that talks what it is or does, it comes up blank in the system - I expect since the information comes from the UK Mazda system. From what the salesman tells me, Mazda says its a "Apple iPhone issue" and that other devices (like android devices) work properly. While he has seen in their reports this being complained about since 2013, he is surprised it has not been cleared up because we both do not buy its a Apple issue. We both spoke about other makes of cars that do not have this problem at all (Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Hyundai). My other car is a Ford 2011 Convertible Mustang with "Micro(crap)Soft Sync" and its a very nice interface though it is not without its bumps from time to time. I mean *if* Ford Microsoft Sync can work with Apple iPhones you would think Mazda/Bose could too!

So, no love for the US market it seems.
