How to exit recovery mode without restoring the phone during the newest update?
So I forgot to back up my phone and I went to update and it just turned into recovery mode. Are there any ways to exit the recovery mode?
iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button until the phone reboots and shows the Apple logo

Thanks for replying but it's still in recovery mode.
Scratch that...you cant get it out of recover unless you restore from what im reading
Thanks for replying but none of those worked...
Then you've learned an important lesson about why backing up your iPhone's data is so important.
Yes indeed. I did back up my phone before my trip to England. When I came home I thought the update would be just like the previous ones(no need for entering recovery mode) so I just updated it before saving the photos i took there.
That's no good...maybe iCloud was still backing it up for you while you were overseas?
Nah my iCloud is full. So I'm saving the back-ups on my computer.
Check your iCloud Photostream. Even if your iCloud backup is full, Photostream still works, if you had it turned on.
Photostream has an upper limit of 25,000 photos or 100GB, forup to 30 days.
I did turn it on but I can't see them. I can see my iPod's but not my iPhone 's. Maybe there's a glitch or something?
I don't know if you still need an answer but it maybe helpfull some other time. I entered into Recovery Mode accidently and didn't want to restore the iPhone. You can use TinyUmbrella to exit Recovery and the iPhone will reboot just fine. You can find it here.
Cheers
for exiting from recovery mode you should set auto boot TRUE ...
for this you can use iREB from iH8sn0w , find it with google search download it and after runing
in second tab , click on set auto boot true ... Done .
Joao_Dordio,
You rock and so does TinyUmbrella! I was in the same boat as Traveler but more than the photos was the 5+ GB of music that is only on the iTouch and nowhere else. What a GREAT feeling to not lose years of data !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: exiting recovery mode without losing data
FIXED!!!! For me anyway, and I hope for you!
So I tried to update to ios 7 and after downloading the software itunes tried to update my iPad 3. I recieved the error 3004 and was stuck in the "Connect to iTunes" screen and could not get out of it. Completely annoyed!
But then I remembered something from when I used to fiddle with iphones. I opened a program I had called TinyUmbrella, which can be used to force boot out of recovery mode (the "connect to itunes" screen).
My ipad was still connected to itunes and in recovery mode. I opened TinyUmbrella, selected my ipad (which was just shown by the serial number), then clicked "Exit Recovery" and BAM!!! It immediately kicked my out of the recovery screen and started my ipad back up to my home screen.
Now, my ipad was still on 6.1.3 since the update to ios 7 had failed. But I didn't care, my ipad was fully functional again just like I left it before. Thank God for TinyUmbrella! Here's the CNET link for TinyUmbrella if you need it:
