Washed iPod in washing machine

Apple won't repair it because washing the iPod is not something that is covered by the warranty.

Many people have had luck reviving a washed iPod by letting it sit on end in a warm dry room (not in the sun and not using the clothes dryer or hair dryer) for a week. Don't try turning it on or charging it for the whole week.

After a full week of letting it dry out, then try charging it and see if there are signs of life. You may get lucky. If not, you may be able to have a place like www.ipodresq.com repair it for less than what a new nano would cost.

Before letting it dry, I'd suggest dunking it in distilled water (aqua destillata, the stuff you used in Chemistry in school). If you let the soapy water dry, you'd get soap residue in the iPod, so the distilled water should dilute that, and you'd end up with a cleaner iPod on the inside.
It's wet now anyway, so what's to lose?
