How long are text messages retained?
How long are text messages retained before they are automatically deleted? Is there a setting to change length?

As FoxFifth said, the texts are not automatically deleted. I've had friends with messages dating back several years. If you are looking to keep texts for a very long time, then you've in luck. If you are wishing to have them automatically delted, then you're out of luck (I would recommend for this situation just going to the end of the list of text recipients and deleting the one's with dates i.e. 10/10/10 and keeping the one's that are days i.e. Friday, keeps the phone clean.)
