InDesign on Mac Pro

Anyone out there getting InDesign (CS2) work done on their new Mac Pro. I hear a lot about PS but not much about InDesign. I've got a few larger projects coming up and I'm wondering if I can safely retire my Dual 1.42 G4 without too many problems?

Thanks,
Gus

Surprising, if it does crash, I just reopen and export again and it always works.

While I have real facts to support this, I think the use of FB-DIMMS is most of the problem. It doesn't seem that iMac users have near the number of issues with ID as MP users. I understand that FB-DIMMS are superior and will be in the future but combination of the memory, CS2 and Rosetta is just too much.

Geronimo, you failed to provide the one piece of info that could show what the likely culprit is for your problems - your RAM. How much RAM do you have?

ECC is going to cure problems, not cause them. Won't fix bad code or corrupt files, but will prevent those from happening.

See today @ www.macintouch.com on help for problems.

Also, not everyone uses small files, and for those dealing with 1-5GB images (aerial photography or whatever) even a Quad G5 breaks out in a sweat. Not your average by a far shot, but the type of person looking at moving to Mac Pro.

I actually think InDesign CS2 runs better on my Mac Pro than on my MacBook Pro, though I'm going to guess it just likes having more RAM available - 4GB vs. the 2GB in the MacBook Pro. I run InDesign pretty much all day long and this has come as a nice bonus 😉 I also agree that the Adobe apps seem to start dragging at some point during the day and I have to reboot to get them up to speed again... while quite workable, the release of CS3 can't come soon enough IMHO.
