Moved iPhoto Library but cannot see photos in iPhoto 9 (9.5.1)

Read through many of the posts on topic (maybe I missed it but..) still having a problem seeing my photos when I launch iPhoto 9. Here is what I did.

Renamed the existing library on new MBA to "iPhoto Library (old)"
Copied iPhoto Library from old MBP to MBA in Pictures folder (now I have 2 in the Pictures folder)
Launched iPhoto 9, Selected "iPhoto Library" (the library from MBP) and nothing appears

Note: the library is 25.1GB so I know the photos are there. I also open the "package contents" and I could see the photos in the "Originals" and "Modified" folders. There is nothing in the "Masters" folder as was described in another post.

Help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the copy went wrong. Try redo it.

Be sure the library on the old MPB launches as expected and displays all of the photos before trying the next copy.

So I confirmed that the pictures displayed correctly on the old MBP. I opend the package contents on the old MBP and noticed that there is no "Masters" folder there either. I did re-copy the file from MBP to MBA, renamed it to distinguish the difference and launched iPhoto. I still cannot see any pictures on the new MBA.

Any other options?

What version is your old iPhoto? The originals may be in the Originals folder rather than the Masters folder depending on the version

I can't remember off the top of my head and don't have the MBP with me but the iPhoto icon is "sunset orange" in color and the created date of the iPhoto Library is 5/27/2008. I can double check when I get home.

it is probably iPhoto '08 or earlier - the originals would be in the Originals folder - they moved to the Masters folder later

and if it is iPhoto '08 or earlier you need to download and run the library upgrader - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1523 - before running iPhoto to upgrade

Starting over from scratch with new library

Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:

1. Open the library package like this.

2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.

3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.

This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
