What is the white flash or shadow appearing on the screen when opening various apps?

My iPhone 5 iOS 7.1.1 shows a large white spot flashing on the upper left side when opening various apps. It's not consistent to a certain app, but happens frequently. I have (not too) many apps and I suspect one of them is the polluting culprit. It's like a damage or disturbance to the animation effect. One has to be really quick to take a screen shot, still I have seen one on a different Apple community discussion but I'm not able to retrieve it now.

The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...

Restart / Reset > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Backing up, Updating and Restoring > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...

Hi, I haven't taken it to the store yet, because I will wait and see if anyone elses experience are discussed and solved in this forum.

It's not a crucial malfunction and I hesitate to restore as new, because I think it will return when I reinstall my apps. I don't have the time to do a full methodic research myself, and depend on users more into this sort of thing to come up with a possible solution.

I will though, try to turn off the animation for a start. 😉
