My i pad does not always respond to the charging cable...it is almost like the charging input in the i pad itself is wearing down. Can this be replaced? It is on extended warranty
What model iPad and how long since it was purchased?
What do you mean by "wearing down"?
Have you thought about purchasing a new USB charging cable?

First thing I would try is a different cable. Next try a different charger. Also check for dirt, lint or fuzz in the connections ports. If none of those help Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
