Most Durable iPod & Case Combo?

My son is in the Army and headed for Iraq soon. I want to get him an iPod. With shock resistance as the first priority and dust resistance the second I'm looking for suggestions on iPod and case combos. The Nano's have no moving parts but are fragile. Assuming equal cases, like a Yo Tank, which is more durable the Nano or the 5G? Any other case recommendations?

Where do you get the idea that the Nano is fragile? It scratches easily, then again, all iPods scratch easily. But since it doesn't have a hard drive it can take quite a beating and continue working. Get the 4GB Nano and a hard plastic case such as the Agent18. My white Nano is almost a year old and looks brand new, though the Agent18 case is now a bit scratched since I generally keep it in my pants pocket.
