Inside iMac 27" screen is dirty...how can it be cleaned or repaired?

I noticed that there are sections of my screen which appeared to be dirty but upon trying to clean them, it seems as though the dirt is on the INSIDE of the screen...it is strange, since it appears to be smudges or prints, almost smears in some cases. It was definitely NOT like this when I first got it approximately 2 years ago, and it has never been brought in for any repairs, replacement, etc. or left my house.

How can the inside of the screen be cleaned?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Unless you smoke around your iMac, it's likely an issue called "LCD Contamination", and is a very noted and widespread issue with 2009-2012 (and maybe newer) iMacs. Google it and see if the images that come up match what you have. In that case, the LCD panel will likely need to be replaced. My 27" from 2010 had the problem, Apple replaced my LCD panel under AppleCare. 3 months later, the new panel exhibited the same issue. After the second replacement, all is well with the machine. It usually happens along the side edges/corners, but can get worse and look like huge grey blotches all over.
