iPhone 5 front glass panel separating/lifting away from body?

Very oddly, on my iPhone 5, I noticed the entire front panel/glass/LCD/digitizer assembly is separating or detaching from the body at the top right corner, near the power switch.

It appears to be otherwise intact. It is still functional.

I have never dropped the device on anything other than carpet from farther than a few feet.

There is approximately a 1-2mm visible gap between the bottom of the glass panel and the top of the metal surrounding strip.

Pushing the panel back into the body causes the panel to flex a little, but does not stay in place.

Any ideas about what happened and how it might be possible to fix it? Unfortunately, it is no longer under warranty.

Thanks.

Thanx for your info on the screen lifting @ the corner of your iPhone 5, the exact thing happened to mine yesterday, I watched the screen lift & bright light started shining through! I thought I was dreaming? do to your conscientious posting here I was able to explain the problem to an Apple tech. He was able to get me an appointment to repair or replace my phone! Thank you! Dan. =)

This morning our iPhone 5 screen was popped out. I read that Apple's repair/exchange for this ended in January. Took it to the Apple Store to see what they would say...we were going to buy a new one if we had to. After they took a look at it they swapped it out for us no charge.

That iPhone 5 was purchased a few months after the model was introduced, I'm pretty sure. Never had Applecare on it. I think I once replaced the camera in it myself. I probably could have put a new battery in it for less than $20.00 but the battery swelling may have already damaged other components.

The value of the service was $269.00 according to the receipt I got. It's a shiny, new-looking iPhone 5.
