I seam to be an Apple Remote Desktop Client without my permission. I do not have a business with multiple computers. How do I disable it when it is not
in my applications?
iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8), never downloaded a remote program
System Preferences -> Sharing, and disable "Screen Sharing" and "Remote Management". And if checked, "Remote Login" (this is ssh, scp, sftp, rsync, remote terminal, Unix style access).
There are other 3rd party utilities that can provide remote access, but the above are the Mac OS X flavors.
That's part of the OS X environment, and handy for set-up and for operations. Remote desktop is very useful for connecting from an iPad, OS X, Windows or other device, too — it's very much useful in home environments, not just businesses.
I guess I should ask how you know it is enabled, as that might help identify just what remote access server it is.
