Welcome to Apple Discussions!

So your nano is freezing after your computer when into standby mode, do I have that correct?

If your computer goes sleep, or standby with your iPod connected, your iPod will most likely freeze because of this (it sounds like that's what happened). Try resetting your iPod to get it out of its freezing mode:
Resetting your iPod

To safely disconnect your iPod (when it displays "Do Not Disconnect" it isn't safe to disconnect now), follow this:

Close iTunes and iPod Updater programs if they are running.
Shut down your computer; then unplug your iPod now.

I hope this helps,

Hello again,

This may be an issue with your option in iTunes.

If you go to "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod", see what setting you are on.

If you're on the "manually manage songs" setting, then your iPod won't be automatically syncing with iTunes. You'll probably need to change your option to "automatic" (either one you want), so it'll work so that when you plug in your iPod, iTunes will automatically sync with it, and load songs onto your iPod (that currectly aren't on your iPod).

I hope this helps you and makes sense,

-Kylene
