iCloud Keychain doesn't sync

Hi there, here is my problem :

I use iCloud Keychain on my MacBook Pro and on my iPhone for a few months now with no problem at all. But I just noticed that in Safari on my iPhone, there are no memorised passwords anymore, I don't know why and since when.

I tried to disable / enable iCloud Keychain on both Mac and iPhone, with no result : any password recorded on a machine won't go to the other.

Any idea ?

I've been having the same issue since I got my iPhone a month ago. I could not get my keychain to sync, though it worked fine on my iMac and my iPad.

I also could not turn off keychain in iCloud settings, so I could never be presented again with re-authentication OR giving the passcode for my keychain.

After working with Apple for the last week and doing some troubleshooting steps (including some if not all of those already listed here), I tried the following, since I am lucky enough to have access to another iCloud ID via the hubby.

On the iPhone, sign out of iCloud with your trouble account. I allowed it to delete my iCloud stuff from my iPhone

Sign in with a different iCloud account. I chose to not merge the data. I didn't change any settings.

I logged out of the secondary iCloud account, allowing it to delete anything saved on my iPhone.

When I logged back in with my account, keychain was turned off.

When I turned it on, it asked me for the SMS code (which I got pretty immediately).

All of my keychain data (passwords and saved credit cards) became available and are synching.

Ok so, today, eclipse day lol, I did restore my iPhone 6 using iCloud backup (because of other minor troubles) and I noticed the Keychain was off. I turned it on, and it asked me the code... as always. I was sure I would get an empty keychain on my phone, as usual for ONE YEAR now. Literally.

Then it notified me on my mac that the Keychain was emptied. What ?!?

But in fact, no. The passwords are still on my Mac. Muhu. Ok then. But... wait... OH MY F****** GOD the passwords are on my iPhone as well. FINALLY.

So Apple, I tried several times to restore both Mac and iPhone as new, for one year now, no way to make that Keychain work on my phone... but using iCloud backup did ?!? Crazy. But happy !

I had the same problem as you. Apple's suggestion (log all machines out of keychain sync) didn't work. Like you I just couldn't switch it off on my iPhone. I tried logging out and back in to iCloud on that device, as well as restoring an old backup to the phone, and even that didn't work.

What finally *did* work was switching off keychain sync on my iMac and iPad (keeping all the passwords saved on both devices), then resetting the keychain completely on my iMac. That prompted the iPad AND iPhone to re-request access to sync, and FINALLY to do so on the iPhone.

Thanks macfoo ,

Signing out of the problem iCloud account on my iphone6 , signing in with an alternate account (i created a junk one just for this), then signing back in with my usual (problem) account did the trick. On signing back in, keychain had finally defaulted to off and when turned back on I was asked for my access key etc!

This has been driving me mad for months!

Hey there! I was having a similar problem. Have MacBook Pro and iPhone 6S. The iPhone wasn't picking up newly created passwords from MacBook Safari. Went into iCloud settings on iPhone and turned off Keychain, checked "yes" to delete information from iPhone. When I turned it back on and inputted passcode, after a couple of minutes, all passwords were updated including the ones missing from MacBook Safari. Even created a test password and user name and it immediately showed up on iPhone. Hope this help!
