    Ye gods--

    Just got off the phone w/ Apple support. There was a serial number "mismatch" with my Macbook, so even though they received it on the 23rd, they didn't register it at the shop until the 24th, and it just went into repair today (the 28th).

    Wait, there's more: the tech mentioned that I had been told that there would be a 5-7 business day estimate for my repairs - provided no orders for parts had to be placed. No one told me THAT, I assured her.

    So I could be potentially be without my macbook well into September. Very disappointing, as I was using more than my old XP desktop and loving it quite a bit.

    Thanks to everyone for their feedback, though.

    i just got off the phone w/ apple care and the part i was waiting on was the top case. i would have thought those would be in large abundance at this point.

    she also said some other parts were going to be replaced, but nothing that needed to be ordered, and i was back in repair (although the website does not reflect that) and if no other parts need to be ordered (i would think they would have determined this when they ran the diagnositics to test the fan, etc) it should be returned by the end of the week.

    granted, the online website still says everything is on hold , but perhaps there is an update delay.

    here's hoping...

    Well, I dropped my MacBook off at the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall Apple Store on Aug 28th, and it's STILL listed as "On Hold". 2 weeks and no progress. I'm getting ****** and maybe it's time for me to make a "polite call" to AppleCare. I didn't spend $250 on AppleCare to get this kind of treatment.

    im on 7 weeks right now - will be 2 months on the 19th and my original problem was that the topcase needed changing!!!

    You're kidding, right..? Wow, 2 months... I hope you get something out of them for that... I mean, what about the depreciation of the laptop? Not to mention loss of productivity... it's crazy. I'd go crazy if mine didn't come back for 2 months... actually, I'll demand a refund and buy a new one. Outrageous.

    yeah its been two months and im going out of my mind - am pretty much ringing apple on a daily basis to complain now - they say my new computer should be with me by the 22nd so if that happens it brings my adventure with apple repair to two months and three days!!

    they recieved my macbook on 8/31 for repair of rsd, defective superdrive, defective trackpad & discoloration. it has been on hold for parts ever since, they told me it was waiting for a heat sink. on last thursday they promised it would be repaired today (9/18) and back to me tomorrow. i am not holding my breath.

    friends don't let friends buy macs!

    Whoa! Just checked my status and it just changed to "Product Return Pending"!!



    Dare I dream having it back by the end of the week? Whoopee.
