Prevent ringtone from playing through the iPhone speaker when a headset is connected.

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but whenver I get a call on my iPhone 4s (iOS7) the ringtone plays through the iPhone speaker and my bluetooth headset. For messages, emails, and every other notification sound, it plays just through the headset, but not incoming calls. Is there a ways to stop that, other than putting the phone into silent mode?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.1

I had the same problem sending a bluetooth signal from my iPhone 6 to my P.A. system for my gigs. I fixed it going to <settings> <Do Not Disturb>, next: <Allow Calls From> And pick the option "No One", and down below: <All Contacts> After you finish listening to your music, e.g.: Spotify, iPhone music library, or whatever, you have to reset your options to receive calls again. There's no short cuts for this one. I hope this helps you guys.

No. The call itself plays through the headset just fine. I'm talking about the initial ring indicating an incoming call. It plays through both the headset AND iPhone speaker. Once I answer the call, it plays only through the headset. Considering the whole point of the headset is that you hear what's going on, and the world around you doesn't, it kind of ruins the subtlety.

No. It's not in speaker phone mode. I'm talking about before the call has been initiated. I'm not in speakerphone mode. As I said, once I pick up the call, it plays through the headset, as it should. The problem is that the RINGTONE that indicates an incoming call plays through both the headset, AND the iPhone speaker. It should only be playing through the headset when connected, as it does for all other indicator sounds.

RandomSamurai: I have a similar problem... I have an iphone6 with iOS 8.1.2. I noticed that if i put my earphones that came with it and i play the sounds like mp3, text tones it can be heard in it. However if I play the RINGTONE it plays to both the speaker and the earphones. Any help welcomed. Thanks!

There's really no way for anyone to help you as that is the way it's designed to work. Whether or not you agree with that decision on Apple's part is another matter. Use the feedback link noted above to express your opinion directly to Apple.
