MBP or MP?
Now i'd get the MBP but i already have PowerBook which has a lot of life left in it its less than 6 months old plus it works now so why should i replace it only to possibly get a bad machine. As it stands, the portable lineup isn't particularly stable right now. I also feel selling my PB would be a waste, as i would get little or no value for it.
Also the Core 2 Duo machines, i feel, will be hotter and may even have more issues than current versions and the true power of the core 2 machines won't be harnessed till the santa rosa chipset is out. So i'm leaning towards moving away from intel portables for a while and heading for the desktops which are significantly more "stable"
The iMac or mini are out of the question, i need a separate display and i need power/expandability (i intend to keep my machine for a long time) both of which the mini and imac cant offer. This leaves me with the MacPro.
Sounds like i've my decision right...well...no. Up till now i was a very mobile person, as soon as people get too noisy, i move to another spot in the house. If i get a MacPro this won't be the possible. Then again 70-80& of the time people aren't noisy and i tend to sit at my desk with the PB docked mostly, which means, the MacPro is still a good candidate.
To be honest the MacPro would be more long lasting and wont require an update just upgrades till at least 2009 but with the MBP i'd need to replace it at least every year which isnt really budget wise but it would allow me freedom when i need it but the PB can also provide that. Sigh...i am soooooo confused. Help!
PS i'd be using this computer to run Photoshop, FCP, iLife, Windows (some games), scientific imaging software (from school), Logic/Garageband, word processing/presentation creations and of course surfing the web.
