How do I remove battle of the Boyne from my calendar on iPad retina

I have no clue what it is you are trying to remove, but if you want to delete an entry, just highlight it and then hit delete.

To make it clearer, in the iPad calendar on July 12th and 14th there is a entry marked 'Battle of the Boyne'
Since I personally think this is in bad taste, I'd like to remove it, however I'm not being offered a edit choice so that I can delete it.
So the question is, how can I delete this entry?

Open calendar. Click on "calendars." From what you describe, it sounds like the entry is coming from something there - perhaps some holiday calendar (I am in the US and do not have that entry).

Hi again Barry.
I opened the calendar, clicked on the word 'calendars' at the bottom of the page, unchecked 'UK Holidays subscribed' and the event was hidden from the screen.
Unfortunately, so are all UK holidays.... but I can live with that.
As some say, my whole life's a holiday, lol. (Took early retirement last year)
It's still there if I check the line again, pity I just can't remove the event.
