Problems copying Time Machine folder from one HD to new HD

Hi Everyone,

I need help!!!!! I am trying to transfer the Time Machine folder from a 2TB external HD to a 3TB external HD. I have been following the instructions from Apple given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5096?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US I am getting the following error messages after Finder runs for 12 hours and 800K+ items "Preparing to copy to" the new HD and another 2-3 hours of copying the files to the new HD.

The error messages are:

The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.

The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062)

It repeats both of these, then stops. The new HD will show the backups.backupdb folder, but it can not tell me what the size of the folder is. (I know it's close to 2TB since the HD was busting at the seams!) 😁

I have tried to copy this now twice, with the same result. I am now going a third time, but hoping maybe someone can give me some direction. I have erased and re-formated the new HD, so in a sense it is back to a brand new state.

Someone please help me out with this.

Thanks in advance!

When I filter "Input/Output" in the Disk Utility Log, this is what I get:

2014-05-08 00:21:49 -0700: Could not restore - Input/output error

2014-05-08 00:21:49 -0700: Could not restore - Input/output error

2014-05-08 10:03:12 -0700: Could not restore - Input/output error

Just the two attempts for me to "Restore" the TM backup to the 3TB drive. Nothing that is showing a particular drive.
