apple start-page

When I click on the safari icon in my dashboard the "apple start" window opens and the address "http://www.apple.com/startpage/" appears in the address window and then is slowly highlighted in blue. I Know your thinking thats normal and it is. However, that is the end of the process or load. The rest of the page dosn't load. If it does finish loading it might take five minutes. Further even though the window hasn't loaded I can go to the search window and search as normal Any thoughts?
