Garageband opens last project

Whenever I open Garageband 10 it automatically opens the last used/saved project. There isn't an option anywhere to disable this. So it would open with the New Project window instead for example. Or just empty with no project at all. There isn't a way to change that anyway?

Was about to mention that. At first I held the Option key down, but released it after I pressed the GB icon. The last project loaded. Then I held the Option key down while pressing the GB icon and held it until the very end. Then the last project doesn't load starts empty. So thanks 🙂

Meanwhile I sent some feedback to Apple. An annoying feature which should at least be able to turn off.

It wrks for me too, just like Hang said.

There is a difference between holding down the options key and simply clicking GarageBand 10 in the Dock and between double clicking it.

If you hold down the options key and simply click, GarageBand 10 will only show the main menu bar, but not an application window. Then just use the "File" menu to create a new project.

Or, if you do not want to create a new project, but want to open again one of your previous projects, ctrl-click the Dock icon and use the "recent" menu:

I want to point out one more thing.

  • Opt+click on the GB icon in the Dock might be the preferable command.
  • Opt+doubleclick on the GB icon in the FInder has the side effect that it closes the Finder window (whihc you might not want)

In case you use a third option, launching GarageBand with a key command, then the option key works too. Just hold down the option key after you press the key command.

Hope that helps
