Can i use my Airport Express (2nd generation) instead of a Sonos Connect

I have an Airport Epress (2nd generation) and want to use it instead of buying another Sonos Connect At the moment my Sonos Connect is hooked up to my Bose Solo as part of my Sonos audio system around the house. i want to move the Solo to the dining room but keep the Connect in the living room hooked up to my CD player. Instead of buying another Connect for the Bose can i use the Airport Express that i have spare and config it to use like the Connect.

Can anyone help??

Yes, you can use an AirPort Express in lieu of a Sonos Connect.

Now let me get this clear in my head. i want to use the AirPort Express (2nd generation) exactly like the Sonos Connect and plug the Bose into the Airport using an audio cable and play the Sonos content not Apple content.

Yes, and no. You can connect the Bose speaker to the AirPort Express, and then, stream iTunes via AirPlay to the Express.

I believe Sonos uses a different audio streaming protocol than AirPlay. You cannot directly stream from a Sonos server to the Express. For that you will need one of the Sonos solutions.

Then the answer is they are not directly interchangeable and you won't be able to achieve your goal of streaming Sonos content to the AirPort Express or any other AirPlay-ready device.
