how do i stop the banners at the top of the screen
IS there a way to turn off the banners that pop up at the top of the screen that you have to wave up to make go away?
iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

I turned off all the banners but I still get them for the apps i turned them off on. It's weird. And on some of the apps there is no option to turn them off?

Maybe similar topic, but how do I change the banners/alerts from populating at the top? Older iOS you could move them to the middle of the screen. It is very annoying to have them at the top since so many other items are at the top.
So for apps for which you've specified "None" as the alert type, you're still getting banner alerts?
I've never seen an app without the option to change the alert style.

Above that you should see "Alert Style". It has three pictures showing the types of alerts, "None", "Banner" and "Alert". Which one has the caption circled?
Thanks for this thread. 🙂
I had a similar question. I wanted the badge icon only and I wanted to turn off the banners.
From this thread I realized that you can select the small oval under the iPhone icons at the bottom of the Notification screen to turn off banners.
Press the small iPhone icon highlighted by the red arrow at the bottom of the Notification screen. The small oval should move to the notification setting desired indicating that you have changed your setting.
p.s. this is a bit of thread necro, but I didn't see anything more recent and I thought others might benefit from my discovery.
All i see is badge app icon, show on lock screen, and show in notification center. There isn't even an option for banners. So every app I have turned everything off on is showing at the bottom of the screen saying DO NOT INCLUDE and then there is a huge list of apps and the all say banners underneath them. HELP
This was EXACTLY what I was looking for - been trawling through websites for half an hour to figure this out. Thanks so much. I pressed it before but never noticed that the circle moved, so I thought it was just a diagram... :-)
If you go to Settings/Notifications/Mail and choose one of your accounts, at the bottom there is a setting for “Show Previews,” which defaults to “Always”. That will cause a Notification banner to appear. Turn that off too.
Tap the picture above the word "None". Then you should should see the word "None" circled indicating that you will get no alerts.
In Settings>Notificaion Center, you can choose which applications you get notified by and in what way. Turn off the banner alerts for the apps you don't want to alert you that way.
thanks
Glad it helped.
