Dot pitch of MacBook display?

Does anyone know the dot pitch of the MacBook display? I can't find it anywhere...

I'm looking at external TFT monitors, and it would be nice if the pixel-size was similar, so that I don't get a mismatch when dragging stuff from one monitor to the other 🙂

Dot pitch does not refer the the number of dots per inch. That is DPI. Dot pitch refers to the space BETWEEN two adjecent pixels. The closer they are, the better the image resolution. That's a term I haven't heard in a LONG time - the last time I was concerned about the dot pitch of a display was.....10 years ago? (I was shopping for a .28 vs. a .37)

Ok, so maybe I was using the wrong terminology 🙂 maybe I should say pixel-size, or pixel-pitch, or pixel density...?!

Like I said, I'm after a TFT monitor to use alongside my MacBook and I'd like it if an image which is, say 3" square on the MacBook, would be the same size when dragged to the 2nd monitor. At the moment (using an old 17" CRT as a second display @ 1024x768), the image is bigger on the CRT 🙂

It's pretty simple math. 113 dpi equals a pixel pitch of 1/113, or a pixel pitch of 0.0088 inches. In milimeters that would be 0.225.

You aren't easily going to find an LCD monitor with that kind of pixel pitch. The cutoff point for monitors seems to be around 100 dpi. You will be stuck with the problem you are looking to avoid, namely having objects retain their size when moving from one display to the other.

It could be that Apple's next crop of Cinema displays will address this by using non-industry standard panels. Wait and see if you can.
