5s blinking dead battery/apple logo after water damage

On Friday 5/9 my 5s met the washing machine. After getting it out, I put a hair dryer to it for a little bit. I plugged it in (probably not the best idea) and the apple logo flashed once, but then nothing. I then put it in a bowl of rice for 14 hours. Impatient, I once again plugged it in. (Saturday) This time, the apple logo and the dead battery logo flashed once. After that, nothing, the rest of the day.

Today (Sunday) ANYTIME I plug it in, the apple logo and dead battery symbol flash over and over again.

I took it to Apple, and immediately their answer is "It cant be fixed, you need a replacement phone"

Being it is showing signs of life, I kind of feel this is B/S! I'm hoping that someone can suggest possibles ways to fix it, or a specific part I can replace (Ive opened and replaced parts in iPhones many of times) OR should it happen to be something with the logic board, know of a site that can actually do REPAIRS.

I don't care so much about the replacement cost of the phone as I do fixing THIS ONE so I dont lose everything that's on it, being I havent backed it up in months.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

On the bright side (hopefully) while it was in the panse pocket that was in the wash, the cycle never started.

Also, like I said, when plugged in to a power source, the apple logo and dead battery symbol flashes. This leads me to believe that either the dock connector is bad, the battery is bad, or there is a problem somewhere in the middle that allows that battery to charge. Sure wish I had another I5 that I take a fully charged battery, and pop it in this 1.

I got the following info from another thread that I'm trying to figure out if it plays in to my scenario:

This would lead me to believe one of two things. The dock connector could have some corrosion on it. You might want to take a soft toothbrush to try and fix, or the water damaged the charging circuit and after the initial charge, it has failed.

Hey Budweiser,

I experienced exactly the same problem. What was the outcome of the problem? Maybe I can fix my phone, using your solution or input.

(BTW: I too think it's complete BS to buy a new phone for this issue; think it's a component issue...)

You think it's 'BS' to get a replacement phone for one that's been water damaged? How is water damage a 'component issue'?
