Unblock blocked Podcast

Hello everybody,

I have a Podcast which I blocked about a year ago with the <itunes:block>yes</itunes:block> Tag in the <channel> element. This worked fine, the Podcast didn't show up in iTunes. Like it is writen in the Apple Documentation it didn't show up when I removed the blocking element.

Apple Documentation:

<itunes:block>

Use this inside a

<channel>
element to prevent the entire podcast from appearing in the iTunes podcast directory. Use this inside an
<item>
element to prevent that episode from appearing in the iTunes podcast directory. For example, you may want a specific episode blocked from iTunes if its content might cause the feed to be removed from iTunes.

If this tag is present and set to "yes" (case insensitive), that means to block the feed or the episode. If the tag’s value is any other value, including empty string, it’s indicated as a signal to unblock the feed or episode. At the feed level, if there is no block tag, then the block status of the feed is left unchanged. At the episode level, if there is no block tag, it is the same as if a block=no were present.

But now I'd like to unblock the Podcast. I inserted again the <itunes:block>no</itunes:block> element in the channel element. But till now the Podcast doesn't show up in the iTunes Store.

The Podcast Name is: Julius Baer CIO Monthly - a view from the top on key market trends.

And the URL of the Feed is: http://www.juliusbaer-podcast.ch/videocast/cio_talk/cio_talk.xml

Has somebody an idea how I could make the Podcast unblock or appear in iTunes Store again?

Thank for the help.

I'm not sure whether the Store will have retained your podcast if it's been blocked for a long time, but if it does it will take a few days to get round to checking the feed. If it does so, then your podcast should appear in the Store.

If nothng has happened after, say, a week, then you may need to re-submit it as a new podcast. You may need to change the title slightly to be able to do this (you can always change it back once accepted).

Thank you very much for your answer.

I waited alredy five days and probably I will wait again some days.

The strange thing is, that on my Podcast App on the iPhone where I had the subscription, I can see the Podcast again. It shows also the red batch (notification) for a new Podcast because I have a new title and a new image. But in the iTunes store I still can't finde it.

I'm not familiar with the Podcasts App, but if it's reading the feed directly as the iTunes application does when subscribing, then it won't have a problem because the feed is OK and doesn't have a blocking tag set.

Because the tag was set the Store wasn't showing it: in theory it should have been checking the feed at intervals and continuing not to show it as long as the tag was set, but now the tag is set to 'no' it should show in the Store the next time it checks. Feeds are usually checked every couple of days, but feeds which aren't updated frequently seem to be checked at longer intervals (and sometimes a feed can remain unchecked for some days, which may be a fault condition) so it's still possible that it may check your feed and then show it. I don't know whether there is a likelihood of it being removed from the Store as happens when feeds go actually unavailable (or, in theory, not updated for a long time, though that doesn't seem to be enforced).

Waiting another week or so may be the best thing to do at this stage.
