Time capsule and 5GHZ Channels

Hi,

I have a Time Capsule (latest 802.11ac european model). I would like to avoid to use a channel between those available with manual selection ( 36,40,44,48) because with these channels the connection is really so slow. If I leave the selection to Automatic the unit switch to channel 52 but still very slow, then sometimes all of a sudden and only for a limited time it switches to ch100 and the connection become really good and so fast.

Is there a way to force the unit to stay on Ch100? Or maybe a trick to cause the autosearch of a new channeI. I know there is no way with manual selection. I have too many 2.4GHz AP in the area and I bought this unit mainly for 5GHz use. I would like to avoid a booster......any suggestion will be welcome

Thank you

Hi

in the EU you cannot lock it onto channel 100

User uploaded file

UK usage rules = EU usage rules

Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS)

Dynamic Frequency Selection allows 5GHz hardware to operate within the same

frequency space used by radar such as military and weather. If DFS is enabled on an

access point (or bridge unit in access point mode) then the device when it first selects a

channel will initially listen for a short period of time to ensure that it is not picking up any

radar signals. If radar is detected then a different channel will be used. If the airwaves look

clear on that channel then it will remain on the channel. However if radar is later detected

then the device will shift to another channel. The access point will use protocols specified

in 802.11h to broadcast to the attached stations that a channel switch is taking place in

order to allow them to react gracefully. Once a device has moved away from a channel

which radar has been detected on then it will stay clear of that channel for a defined

amount of time.

Hope this helps

Thank you, I know I cannot lock onto that channel. Anyway I do not think it is a radar matter because I see around here a 5ghz router working on CH100. It was working before on CH 108 but now is fixed on CH 100 so I think my time capsule now avoid to select that channel for this reason . The problem is now it is "fixed" on 52 DFS and that channel is really working bad as well as the other four real fixed possible selections. So the 5ghz is now bad as well as 2.4 and I have a poor wifi network.
