Connecting late 2011 MacBook Pro with ACER B296CL

I am trying to connect my late 2011 MBP with a 29" ACER monitor and I have two issues.

1) tried to connect MBP / ACER via a Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cable. No signal goes through.

2) tried to connect MBP / ACER via a Thunderbolt/HDMI converter to HDMI. Signal goes through BUT the resolution does not adapt. The max resolution I can get on the ACER is 1080p as opposed to the full 2560x1080.

Thanks!

I solved the problem.

In the settings for the ACER monitor, you can (not easily at all) find a setting for the DP. It is set to 1.2 by default but depending on what your cable is, you might need to change it to 1.1

Once the setting is changed, you will be able to connect your MBP via a TB/DP cable and set the resolution of the screen to 2560x1080
