iTunes 11.2 Update Breaks Keyboard Navigation

Early 2011 MacBook Pro, 15"

OS X 10.9.2

Just updated to iTunes 11.2 and I use the "Album" view, the large grid of Album Artwork. I browse my library by typing the first few letters of the artist I want to view, and iTunes used to jump to that letter/beginning of word immediately.

Now it doesn't work and instead jumps to random places - G brings up N, etc. there's no logic to it.

Anyone else having the same problem? Any easy way to roll back to previous version?

And what's worse is, there is no current fix in the Yosemite betas as well. Maybe Apple is preparing for a major overhaul (because the current beta doesn't have a flat interface like the rest of the applications and the app icon is still blue, while Yosemite posts on Apple.com show a reddish-pink icon) but it's frustrating that while one "update" fixes an issue, it causes another. I just want my iTunes to WORK!

Completely agree. I've avoided downloading any new music and just stream from Spotify while I wait on a fix. It's ridiculous at this point. I definitely think iTunes is very bloated at this point, although they've broken up Podcasts and iBooks into separate apps it still seems too large to handle everything. I want to see actionable iTunes Match, not just hoping all my music in the cloud is working correctly, a better means to syncing, a separate iTunes Radio and anything else that can alleviate what hurdles engineers are having to go through now. But again, I'm thinking it's getting a major overhaul since it's yet to be updated in the current Yosemite betas. (Fingers crossed)

So I was hoping for the latest Mavericks update (10.9.4) to maybe deal with this issue. But it didn't. BUT something very odd is now happening. If I try to select an album using the artist name in Albums view, I will NOT be taken there. However, if I scroll to that artist, I can easily see that the first album from that has been "opened" (the view is expanded), which I don't remember happening before. Curiouser and curiouser....

Maybe it was happening before and I never noticed it? Anyway, still super annoying and it would be very nice to have a fix sometime. Keyboard navigation still totally works in the other views (and still works in Album view as evidenced by just trying it and then switching to Song view; we just can't see it correctly in Album view). Let us see our albums Apple! 😟

I also noticed that the album was opened, it just didn't scroll to it. I have also tested it on a much smaller library on a MacBook Air. It does the same thing. It is not related to the size of The library. I have also tried accessing the library from an external drive. No luck. I plan to test it on a Win 8 laptop. It will be especially frustrating if it works there. I use iTunes a LOT to play music and this issue really detracts from the experience.

Before the update I noticed that it was doing that as well. It's like iTunes knew where I wanted to go but never registered to actually MOVE to the dang album. That's the long way of saying that the bug was there pre-update lol sorry. I'm still holding to the fact that iTunes is about to get a major overhaul for the final Yosemite release. Hopefully I'll be able to positively report something come Tuesday, when the next beta should be released.
